Nigerian literary icon Chinua Achebe was a highly acclaimed novelist, poet and professor and critic. Best known for his debut novel Things Fall Apart, Achebe played a pivotal and instrumental role in the development of African Literature. Last weekend Imperial Hotel in Kisumu city played host to the first Marketing Africa Quiznite of the year. The Quiznite is an event where corporate teams come together and are quizzed by a moderator for a chance to win money. Discripancies was the winning team of the evening. Governor Evans Kidero celebrates birthday
It has been a special year so far for Dr Evans Kidero as he was elected Nairobi's first governor in the new devolved government. Last Tuesday, the governor also celebrated his 56th birthday at the Kileleshwa, Nairobi based EK Centre. It was a colourful occasion as the guests got to enjoy a delicious cake and Moet Champagne. Nigerian exhibition opens in Nairobi
A new exhibition dubbed the Poetic Line showcasing work from the legendary Nsukka Art School from Nigeria opened at the Goethe Institut in Nairobi last Thursday. The 30-year collection of drawings and poetry synchronises the feel of political, economic and social injustices. The exhibition is showcasing the work of famed Nigerian artists El Anatsui, Obiora Udechukwu and Olu Oguibe. Nomad's charity golf day in Limuru
The Nairobi Cricket Club played at the Limuru Golf Club last weekend in a golf tournament to raise funds for the primary school for IDPs in Tigoni.
